Update procedure

During a firmware update, the Stiliger Service App first loads the selected firmware version to a reserved memory of the device. During this time, the device functions with the existing firmware. Then, the newly loaded firmware must be activated. In so doing, the data in the memory of the device is copied. During this time, the device stops functioning.

Depending on the scope of functions of a new firmware, it may be necessary that the device must also be recommissioned with the ETS.

After older firmware has been loaded, the device must also be commissioned with the ETS.

Time of firmware update

Activation of the new firmware can take place automatically after loading or manually. In particular, with a large number of selected devices, it is wise to load the firmware overnight, for example, and then to undertake the activation at a later time. This ensures that firmware activation of individual devices interferes as little as possible with regular operation of the KNX system. To this end, the Stiliger Service App offers the option of specifying the date and time for starting a firmware programming operation.

If the firmware update is to be started at a defined time, then the Stiliger Service App must also be operation at this time (PC switched on, ETS opened, app opened). If the app is closed beforehand, this also automatically ends the entire firmware update.
